Vitalik: Users participate in Meme coins because the price is likely to rise and interesting, and they want to see more high-quality projects that are good for the ecology and the world

Odaily Planet Daily News Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin posted “What else could memecoins be?” Vitalik said that, in principle, people participate in meme coins because (i) their value is likely to rise, (ii) they feel that meme coins are democratic and open enough for anyone to participate, and (iii) they are fun. Vitalik says he respects people’s desire to have fun and would rather see the crypto space somehow dance with this trend than fight it. Therefore, he would like to see more interesting projects of higher quality that make a positive contribution to the ecology and the world around it (not just “attracting users”). At the very least, there should be more good meme coins than bad ones, and ideally, meme coins should support public goods and not just benefit insiders and creators. But it’s more ideal to create games instead of tokens, and create projects that people want to participate in.
