Anam 145, selected by the United Nations Development Programme as an 'SDG Blockchain Accelerator'...supporting financial improvement in developing countries.
Annam145, a blockchain startup founded by Professor Lee Jung-hee of Korea University's Cyber Defense Department, announced on the 28th that it has been selected for the 'SDG Blockchain Accelerator', a global blockchain innovation program of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The program, which selected 37 teams from around the world, aims to solve financial accessibility issues in developing countries using blockchain technology and support the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Global blockchain projects such as Cardano, Stellar, and Sui, along with technical partners like Flock and Emurgo Labs, are participating. Annam145 plans to carry out a project to improve the payroll system in Liberia, Africa, with these projects until December this year.
Annam145's 'Annam Wallet' is a convergence wallet platform that connects Web2 financial environments with Web3 blockchain infrastructure. It has a modular isolation security structure that separates the server, app, and user layers to block external intrusions, and enables remittance via text or QR code even without a smartphone.
The company emphasized that seamless remittance is possible even in African regions with low smartphone penetration rates, thanks to multi-layer network recovery technology that works in areas with unstable internet connections.
Lee Jung-hee, CEO of Annam145, said, “We have proven with Korean technology that blockchain can provide practical help to the financially marginalized,” adding, “It is a meaningful achievement showing that the technological prowess of South Korea, a cyber security powerhouse, can contribute to resolving financial inequality in developing countries.”
