On October 29, according to the New York Post, CZ is considering suing U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren for defamation, stemming from her statement after Trump issued a pardon, claiming that CZ had “been convicted of money laundering.” However, CZ has never been convicted of money laundering, and was only previously accused of violating the U.S. Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and CEX's failure to implement effective AML procedures. CZ's lawyer, Teresa Goody Guillen, stated that she is preparing a letter requesting Warren to retract her statement. If Warren does not formally retract her statement, CZ plans to immediately file a defamation lawsuit against the senator. Elizabeth Warren is a prominent Democratic member of the Senate Banking Committee and has been one of the most ardent critics of the encryption field.
